“Uma Atluri, a junior at Del Norte High School in San Diego, has always been passionate about utilizing technology to improve people’s lives.
During the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic in India, Uma was involved in a project to provide oxygen concentrators, blood oxygen monitors, and PPE to hospitals in India that were in desperate need of these resources. Uma spearheaded the project by starting a GoFundMe, sourcing the equipment, and identifying the rural hospitals that needed them most.
Through this experience, Uma directly witnessed the profound effect that technology and life-saving medical equipment can have on individuals’ lives. It has reinforced Uma’s determination to remain actively involved in this field and continue working towards making a positive impact.
Uma is passionate about helping people who may have felt marginalized or forgotten by society, and believes that the work being done here can truly make a profound difference in people’s lives.”
